Perfect brows? Yes please ...

Eyebrows are arguably one of the most important of our facial features, they literally frame the face and can transform your look completely.

Many of us suffer from over plucked eyebrows - an unfortunate epidemic amoung the tweezers happy of us who grew up in the 90's. (Pencil thin brows, matte white eyeshadow, heather shimmer lipstick - what were we thinking?!). If I could give my 15 year old self one bit of beauty advice it would be 'DON'T PLUCK YOUR EYEBROWS!!'

Nowadays there are fantastic ranges of gels, dyes, powders, pens and pencils to help you keep your eyebrows 'on fleek' ... but if like me you're after a more natural looking, semi permanent solution to your sparse brows then microblading is most definitely for you.

A few months ago my lovely hair colourist April Scott introduced me to Laura Moss (aka my brow angel!) Laura is a semi-permanent make up artist based in Hampshire. Fully licensed, insured and trained by Finishing Touches, Laura was trained by microblading expert Rebecca Chung and is fast becoming the name to go to in the world if semi permanent brows.

Having been brow obsessed for years I knew about semi permanent tattooing but was new to microblading. A similar process of depositing micro-pigment, only instead of using a machine a manual microblading pen is used to draw on individual hair strokes, offering the most unbelievably natural results.

My before & after treatment

My before & after treatment

I went for a consultation with Laura, she is so warm, friendly, a master of her art and will absolutely put you at ease with any questions or concerns you have. I told her I wanted to add subtle volume to my brows, keeping it very natural, while I grow my brows, Laura assured me that she errs on the side of caution on the first of the two appointments. On the consultation we also drew the shape and Laura colour matched my brow colour and we discussed expectations and the procedure.

On the day of the procedure Laura meticulously draws your brow outline, once you're both 100% happy with the shape Laura applies a topical numbing cream, and the treatment can begin.

During the procedure you might feel slight discomfort but is relatively painless, small scratches, definitely tolerable. Allow at least two hours for the appointment, this cannot be rushed!

My healed brows ...

My healed brows ...

I was absolutely over the moon with the result, immediately thicker, more youthful looking brows! There's no down time, Laura went through the low maintenance aftercare - just keeping the brows as dry and untouched as possible for the next 10 days (a bit awkward in the shower but doable!).

A second top up appointment is booked to make any alterations and add more hair strokes if required, so about a month after my first appointment Laura added some more strokes and perfected my brows on the second visit.

Once healed, your brows are pretty much maintenance free, although a yearly top up is recommend to keep brows looking their best.

I'm so happy with the subtle, natural result and would recommend the treatment to anyone after a perfect pair of smudge free brows.
