Birchbox - October review ...
I was so excited to receive my first ever Birchbox beauty box delivery this month!
With Birchbox's monthly subscription service, for £10 a month plus postage, you'll recieve 6 products to try, with one full size item in each box. A mixture of high end, known brands and lesser known products catering for a mixture of skincare, hair care and makeup.
My products came in a smart little navy box - will definitely be keeping and using this as a handy 'bits n bobs' box.
Here are my views on the products in the October box ...
• Lord & Berry Lip Crayon - rrp £12
Firstly my favourite item in the box, this Lord & Berry full size lipstick crayon is worth the price of the box alone. A beautiful colour, Intimacy, is a very 'English Rose' natural dusty pink, handily a colour I've been searching for. I'm a big fan of matte lips but find some matte colours can leave your lips feeling like sand paper. This matte crayon isn't drying at all, I wore all day and evening on Saturday and didn't find it drying at all. It's pretty long wearing too, I only had to reapply a couple of times.
• Oribe Texturizing spray 37ml - rrp £19 for 75ml full size.
I really like this part dry shampoo, part texturising spray. Smells lush and gives an instant lift to hair so you can get a day extra out of your blow dry. Lazy girls dream and the 37ml can is perfect handbag size.
• Absolution ale Nettoyant Pureté gel cleanser 15ml - rrp £26 for full size 150 ml.
A gentle gel cleanser containing natural ingredients like chamomile and oats, this cleanser smells really good. Probably not something I am looking for but a good face wash if you have sensitive skin. The 15ml is small but I guess it makes for a good travel size.
• Number 4 Flouro5 Elixir restore and repair hair oil 15ml - rrp £18 for full size 60ml
I never wash and dry my hair without applying a hair oil inbetween and I'm always keen to discover new brands. This hair elixir felt a bit silicone like to me, but definitely made brushing through wet much easier. Left my very shiny but I don't think it quite right for me so wouldn't purchase it.
• Doux me Pure Spring Mist 50ml - £16
A spritz of this product is recommended after cleansing and before moisturising.
Mineral sprays are supposedly great for the face but I can't see me getting much use out of this product at this time of the year - would be a lovely addition in a summer box in my opinion.
• Birchbox eyebrow brush - rrp £1.99
A handy eyebrow taming tool for make up bags. This full sized brush will no doubt be of use. I sometimes use the plastic comb to separate lashes if I've gone OTT on the mascara.
