Sticky cinnamon buns ...
I'm a sucker for these indulgent, soft, sweet and sticky cinnamon buns.
I've tried a few recipes, tweaked a few bits here and there and come up with this super simple recipe.
A little time consuming but I love making my own dough, something very relaxing about mixing all the ingredients together, kneading and rolling out your own.
These buns are super easy and super tasty, and make the whole house smell gorgeous ... bonus!
• 25 oz Plain flour
• 8.5 fl oz warm milk
• 2.5 oz sugar
• 2.5 oz butter
• 2 large free range eggs
• 2 tsp Instant dried yeast
• 2 tsp Salt
• 5.5 oz Butter
• 5 oz brown sugar
• 1 tbls Cinnamon
• 5.5 oz Icing sugar
• 30 ml water
Mix the flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large mixing bowl.
Melt the butter and add it to the warm milk, add eggs.
Gently stir the wet mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients until you have a dough.
Wrap the dough in cling film and put aside to prove for an hour.
To make the filling simply mix together the butter, sugar & cinnamon.
After proving, roll out the dough on a floured surface, roll into a rectangular shape (approx 12 x 20 inches).
Spread the filling mixture over the dough and then roll into a roulade - start from the long side.
Cut 12 equal piece and place in a parchment lined baking tin and allow to prove for approximately an hourlong an hour and a half. This is a crucial step so no cutting corners - patience is a virtue! ;)
Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
Place in the oven an cook for 25 Minutes or until golden brown.
Mix together the icing sugar and water, when buns are baked drizzle over the sugar mixture and leave to cool before serving.
