R&R in Ibiza ...
Last week I spent my days lounging in the sun on the beautiful White Isle. Me and one of my girlfriends decided a couple of months ago to book a 5 day break to eek out the last of the summer, and it just so happened that some of my other girlfriends were booked to be in Ibiza so it seemed like a no brainer! So we set about our whirlwind visit on a 5:30 am flight to the island ...
Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. I've been lucky enough to visit the island 5 times. Prior to my first trip I was unsure as to whether it would be 'my kind of place' with its reputation as a fast pace party island but I soon realised that there is more to Ibiza than clubbing and boat parties.
If your looking for a hedonistic getaway there's no doubt that Ibiza can cater for that taste but it's also abundant with tranquil, more family orientated places and past times. I stayed with a girlfriend at the the Destino Pacha hotel. Situated on the cliff top above Cap Martinet in Talamanca bay, with breathtaking sweeping views of the Mediterranean sea.
The stylish hotel has a pool area that is hard to beat, and offers a great view of Ibiza's stunning sunsets.
Our standard room was on the small side but functional for what we needed.
The hotel can be in the expensive side but if you book at the right time, out of the busiest season you can get a great deal on this hotel.
It's in a great location, we were only a short taxi ride from Ibiza town / Eivissa.
I'd highly recommend taking a stroll around the marina, great little shops, bars and restaurants are hidden amongst the small streets. There are great bargains to be had in the little boutiques in the old town, I could have spent a fortune on beach dressses, kaftans, sandals, jewellery and bags!
And if like me you are a beauty / skincare enthusiast the farmacia's are full of great skincare and beauty products.
If you're a foodie be sure to sample an authentic Spanish paella and wash down with a glass of sangria ... Or two!
A trip over to Formentera is a MUST if you have time. I'll do a more in depth blog on the island but if you day dream of white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters, it is truly heavenly!
We spent the last day at our friends villa in the hills. Tranquillity personified, nestled amoung olive and lemon tree's it was the perfect wind down pool day before heading back to Blighty.
All in all a wonderful time had, a bit of clubbing, lots of relaxing and great company. I'm already planning my trip back ...
