Formentera - a slice of tropical heaven in the Balearics ... 🌴
So I visited Ibiza a couple of weeks ago (feels like ages ago!). After a couple of days relaxing and lounging around our hotel pool in Ibiza we decided we should venture out and see more of what the Balearics have to offer.
Formentera is the smallest of the Balearic Islands. A short boat trip over from Ibiza, with long stretches of golden sandy beaches and clear blue waters, the beaches on Formentera are paradise. We hopped on the Ferry from Ibiza marina, a ticket cost €15 each way.
I highly recommend sitting on the top deck & taking in the sea views en route to the sister island.
Formentera is great if you are looking for a beautiful tranquil getaway, sand dunes, palm tree's and crystal waters create the perfect surrounding's to relax and take in one of Spain's most beautiful hot spots.
Taxi's or buses are available at the marina, or if you wanted to explore the island a little further cars and scooters are available for hire.
We spent just a few hours in the island so grabbed a taxi to Playa Illetes, idyllic but quite a busy beach - due to its proximity to the harbour, travel to one of the beaches a little further and you will find a more secluded option.
We pitched up and got straight into the water, probably the clearest water I've ever been in!
Formentera is a quieter more sophisticated and slower paced slice of the Balearic Islands. I'm looking forward to going back and spending more time exploring this little gem.
