P.M. Skincare Routine ...
So, I thought I'd do a post about my current evening skincare routine.
I'm a bit of a skincare addict, always wanting to try the newest, high tech products but have found that the key to good skin is finding products and ingredients that work together, whether pricey or lower budget.
I've learnt that my skin reacts well with the use of vitamin C and retinoids and that good exfoliation is a must.
My skin is relatively good, but is on the combination / oily side.
I always make sure I thoroughly cleanse my face before bed, otherwise I'm just asking for a breakout.
I've learnt that exfoliation is key to keeping my skin looking healthy, there's no point in putting even the best, most expensive products on to skin that isn't throughly cleansed and exfoliated.
I'm a big fan of micellar water, when I was younger I thought that a facial wipe would suffice as far as cleaning my make up off went - oh how wrong I was!
I'm currently using Garniers Micellar Cleansing Water, I suits my skin and after applying with a cotton pad leaves my skin feeling clean and clear of any makeup.
(I've also just ordered an oil cleanser from DHC, will review it soon.)
I've got quite long, healthy eyelashes and swear it's down to always using an oily eye make up remover. I use Cliniques Take The Day Off cleanser as my eye make up remover. The oily helps remove every last bit of mascara without being harsh on my eyes and eyelashes.
I've previously blogged about my love for the Bodyshop's Vitamin C Microdermabrasion facial scrub, I really can't recommend this enough. I massage it into my face dry, to really get a good scrub! Then rinse off with warm water.
Alternatively, I also use these fab Alpha Beta extra strength daily peel pads by Dr Gross. These two step pads contain a mix of alpha & beta acids to exfoliate skin and improve the texture and radiance. I'm a big fan of Dr Dennis Gross's products, they really deliver results.
I was recommended this Dermalogica multi-active toner when I went for a facial. Great for us lazy girls, you just spritz over your face after cleansing. This helps condition and prep the skin for serums / moisturisers.
I suffer from hormonal acne around my chin area at certain times of the month and after trying everything I'm currently back on putting tea tree oil on to affected areas. I find it really clears any pimples up quickly.
My serum / oil choice of the moment is the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic. I adore this product and definitely notice my skin is more dewy and glowy when I incorporate this into my evening routine. Put it all over, avoiding the eye area.
You don't always have to spend a fortune on products to get good results. I'm really impressed with this Boots own Botanics Triple Age Renewal super serum. I use it instead of an evening moisturiser. It's lovely and light and soaks into the skin really nicely. I've noticed great results using this over the Skinceuticals Ferulic.
And finally, eye cream. I don't always apply it but try to remember now that I'm in my 30's. I've previously reviewed this Bodyshop Vitamin E eye cream, it really delivers and doesn't irritate my eyes.
