New York, New York ...

New York, New York ...

I'm back! Apologies for the radio silence on the blog for the past few months, but I thought I'd come back with a bang and tell you guys about the magical New York City!

I had a flying 48 hour trip there last week and tried to fit as much touristy time in as I could and wanted to share some of my pics with you ...

I'm sure New York is a great place to visit all year round but there's something super magical about it at Christmas time, crisp days bathed in sunshine, all the elaborate Christmas decorations, it's a festive treat!

If you're planning a trip try www.skyscanner.net to find cheap flights and I'd recommend www.booking.comto find deals on cheap hotels.

The flight is on average a bearable 7+ hours there and 6+ back.

When you're there a wander to Central Park is a must, the colours in November are beautiful, the park boasts the famous Lasker rink, the Zoo, the MET museum, Belvedere Castle and the Bethesda Fountain amoung other points of interest.

If shopping til you drop is your thing then you'll be in heaven in NY. Visit one of the cities well known department stores like Barney's or Bloomingdales, and take a walk along 5th avenue to see the creme de la creme of festive window decorations. This year Saks 5th Avenue have an impressive Snow White themed display.

Even just grabbing a take out coffee and having a wander around - New York's grid system makes it virtually impossible to get lost - be sure to have a camera at hand and take in the super instagrammable architecture of the city. Pop into St Patrick's Cathedral and visit some of the iconic buildings NY has to offer.

If you can, squeeze in a trip up the Empire State Building. I timed my visit so that I was at the top of the building at sunset and it was magical. TIP; I would advise paying only to go to the 86th floor - you can pay extra and go all the way to the 102 observatory but I'd save the cash if I were you, the outdoor view from the 86th is breathtaking enough.

Try to take a trip on the Staten Island ferry to get a glimpse of that pretty green lady the Statue of Liberty and take in great views of lower manhattan from the water.

All in all 48 hour is not enough, I'll definitely be planning another trip next trip next year to visit all the places I missed off the list this time around ...
